Story Stones teleport you to a whole new world of magical adventures waiting to be explored
Story Stones educational tools are perfect for developing literacy skills such as retelling, creating sentences, grammar and writing.
Story Stones are magical hands on tools for aiding oral story telling,exploring/expanding sentence structure, assisting writing, developing retell and recall, igniting one’s imagination and so much more.
For instance, introduce a child to the story of Jack and The Beanstalk by maneuvering the stones introducing each character, bring the story alive with different voices and sound effects.
Categorize character and settings. Was Jack a good or evil character? What about his mother or the giant? Where does the story take place? Is there only 1 setting? How are these settings similar/different?
Have children orally create a sentence by placing the stones in a specific order e.g Jack sold the cow for magic beans. This can lead into discussion with older children about parts of grammar like nouns, adjectives, verbs.
Use the stones as writing prompts placing stones instead of words. This is extremely beneficial for those children with auditory processing disorder. That is they are only able to hold onto a particular amount of words in each sentence. The number of words varies depending on the severity of the disability. Story Stones assist with the recall and prompt writing.
Challenge older children to use as many stones as they possibly can to create a sentence, paragraph or story.
Utilise the stones to assist retelling the story and replace/add/substitute a stone to alter it. What would happen if the giant no longer existed and a small mouse was in found at the top of the beanstalk? What may Jack have done if there was no axe available?
